We went camping with the South Coasters up in Big Bear. Temperatures ran from freezing in Big Bear to over 100 in Joshua Tree National Park. We had a great time!
Lisa and I rode the RT to Ensenada, Mexico for 4 days. The weather was perfect, in the 70s. (90s at home) We stayed at a local’s AirBnB house, ate yummy seafood, and had some real adventures.
On the way to the rally we stayed at a friend’s B&B in Tennessee for a few days. Billy’s Lake House is of course on the lake and a very relaxing B&B. We’ll be back!
Once in the Smokies it rained daily, so we skipped the tent camping and stayed in these “motorcycle friendly” cabins. It was perfect. They even had boot and glove dryers.
No ride back east is complete without riding the infamous Tail of the Dragon. It’s mostly hype, but we had to get our photos and T-shirt.
Over 6,000 riders this year! And a shoppers paradise with all the motorcycle vendors worth a damn there and giving rally discounts. Great music (close to Nashville), good food, and best of all – no rain all 3 days!
The South Coasters took a day off from the rally and rode to Nashville to stroll the raucous streets and listen to some music. It was a hoot.
Camping most of the way home, we ran across some unexpected, cool things, like the Civil War battleground of Shiloh. (I have to go back for the full tour.) The weather held up perfectly for our return trip to sunny SoCal. My own bed never felt better!
Anthony’s graduation from Gonzaga in Spokane was a fun weekend. Of course we have to call him Dr. B now. We followed it up with a boat ride and a night in Coeur d’Alene, a beautiful place.
