Feb. ’20 – Death Valley
I rode my “new” 1991 BMW R100RT to Death Valley for the annual Airhead Beemers Club rally. It was another perfect-weather weekend this year. The bike ran perfectly! I met up with some fellow South Coasters and we camped for 3 great days of riding.

Sept ’19 – Big Bear Campout
We went camping with the South Coasters up in Big Bear. Temperatures ran from freezing in Big Bear to over 100 in Joshua Tree National Park. We had a great time!

Aug ’19 – Ensenada MX
Lisa and I rode the RT to Ensenada, Mexico for 4 days. The weather was perfect, in the 70s. (90s at home) We stayed at a local’s AirBnB house, ate yummy seafood, and had some real adventures.

Anniversary #6
In celebration of our 6th wedding anniversary we spent the day in Avalon. We hiked the Garden to Sky summit to see the other side of the island and the Pacific ocean. It was hot going, but the ice cream afterwards made it all worthwhile. 🙂
June ’19 – The Road to Lebanon
Rick took his 3-week motorcycle trip and rode first to Texas to meet his buddies, then to the Smokies to ride around for a week, then on to Lebanon (pronounced Leb’nen), Tennessee for the BMW MOA national rally. And all avoiding the Interstates as much as possible.
June ’19 – Billy’s Lake House
On the way to the rally we stayed at a friend’s B&B in Tennessee for a few days. Billy’s Lake House is of course on the lake and a very relaxing B&B. We’ll be back!
June ’19 – Hunts Lodge
Once in the Smokies it rained daily, so we skipped the tent camping and stayed in these “motorcycle friendly” cabins. It was perfect. They even had boot and glove dryers.
June ’19 – Tail of the Dragon
No ride back east is complete without riding the infamous Tail of the Dragon. It’s mostly hype, but we had to get our photos and T-shirt.
June ’19 – The BMW MOA Rally
Over 6,000 riders this year! And a shoppers paradise with all the motorcycle vendors worth a damn there and giving rally discounts. Great music (close to Nashville), good food, and best of all – no rain all 3 days!
